Hi all... this is my first ever blog post by the way... so bear with me! I have an "about me" on my website but thought i'd do more of a personal introduction...
I grew up in Tauranga, New Zealand, have moved around mainly due to my husband of 11 years, work opportunities as an Electrician. I previously worked in the public sector for Work and Income NZ, then trained and worked as a Nurse, but have now settled back home in Bethlehem, Tauranga a few years ago before we had our beautiful son Boston who is now almost 19 months old. Our little family is growing though and we are excitedly expecting a little girl in May this year :)
Why did I choose makeup artistry?
I have always been a bit of a girly girl and loved makeup, wearing it from about the age of 14, I have probably tried almost every brand on the market... from the cheapest to the most expensive including Australis, Shiseido & Napoleon to name a few. Luckily I have younger sisters and friends who have let me do thier makeup for special occasions over the years which I always loved, so when I was given the opportunity to become a makeup artist on our arrival back to Tauranga, I jumped at it and my business as grown in leaps and bounds, along with a couple of name changes and added beauty services since then...
How do I juggle self employment and family?
I absolutely love being self-employed as it gives me the freedom to work my own hours to suit both my clients/customers and my family. My husband is also self employed as an Electrician in Tauranga which works well with our family dynamic as we can work our schedules around each other.
Why do I love being a Makeup Artist?
My favourite aspects of makeup would be seeing my client/customers face when i'm finished, it literally fills my heart to see the reaction it causes, along with the people around them telling them how beautiful they look! I think every person deserves to feel beautiful with and without makeup. I believe the purpose of makeup is not to change how someone looks but to enhance thier best features and hide thier least, thus creating the epitomy of beauty!
Why have I started a blog?
The purpose of doing a blog is to share with you more and more about myself and what I have and continue to learn about makeup, whether it be products, favourite brands like Make Up For Ever, Ben Nye, Stila & Viseart, etc. - I could go on! as well as application, experiences or faux pas.
