Eye Cream 101 + a little lip tip!

Eye cream is a very important part of your skincare regime... because the skin around your eyes is different to the rest of your face (exc. lips) as it does not contain sweat glands or hair follicles, it requires a specially formulated micro cream that is able to penetrate into the skin. Hence why your face can feel moisturised yet there's still fine lines & wrinkles around your eyes and the skin can appear dry. Because it needs to be a micro formulation it means its usually a lot more expensive than a regular moisturiser.

Like skincare, for the rest of your face you want to find an eye cream that can assist with hydration of the skin, a barrier, as well as something for anti-aging and reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. So, you want to find an eye cream that contains hyaluronic acid for hydration, peptides for anti-aging, Vitamin C for anti-oxidants and collagen renewal.

When applying your eye cream, just dab a pea size amount around your orbital bone (eye socket) as this is a sensitive area you don't want to rub and you don't want to get too close to your eyes.

Oh you may have noticed I wrote exc. lips above... this is because lips are the same skin and contain no hair follicles or sweat glands, making eye cream perfect for a lip moisturiser. Most lip balms are unable to penetrate so they are basically moisturising the dead/dry skin cells on your lips however, if you want something that's actually going to penetrate and repair at a cellular level then start using your eye cream as a lip moisturiser!
